Map-a-Week: The Journey + Legend
So here we are with another Map-a-Week. This one, as you can see, is a wilderness map entitled The Journey. It is accompanied by another Legend. So this will definitely be a part of the Tasiri campaign, although I'm going to have to ponder what part it might be. There's a city at point 3, but it's straddling a river, so it won't be Daalfield. Same with the smaller town at point 4, in the bottom left of the map.
There are 10 points, so let's figure out what they are.
1. Clinwick Lake. This lake drains into the river leading to Clinna Bay. I don't see any rivers draining into it from the other direction, but there has to be something, even if it's just some smaller streams. I'm not sure what's in it yet, though; I still don't have my Monster Manual.
2. The Town of Wolfwater. I like that name. It's by the lake, so fishing will likely be a big part of its economy, but it's also by the forest, which is where the wolves come from.
3. The City of Pontybridge. It's a smaller city, maybe twenty thousand people if that. It straddles the river and leads directly into the Bay, which makes it a port city. The road between Pontybridge and Wolfwater is not much of a road, more of a trail.
4. The Town of Ilragorn. This also straddles one of the river tributaries, and the road out of Ilradorn leads...yes, let's have it lead to Daalfield. So there will be a military presence here, since Daalfield is so often under siege.
5. Bolnora Wood. A somewhat tame forest between Wolfwater and Pontybridge. Trappers are often found here, but the monster population is very limited. The animal population here is mostly game animals, although there are a few predators here and there.
6. The Crossroads. There is no settlement here; the road just diverges toward Ilragorn and another town off to the right of the map. There should be some sort of trading post, at least, although it is close to Pontybridge which might make such a post pointless.
7. This part of the forest is home to a dangerous creature, maybe a basilisk or a chimera. No one quite knows for sure.
8. Another dangerous monster's home. Maybe some purple worms. I'll have to think about that one.
9. Everyone knows there's a dragon here. They just can't agree on what kind.
10. Clinna Bay. Leading to a larger ocean, this bay is the primary means of trade for Pontybridge, with trade routes leading to other major cities and foreign lands.
I haven't got a name for this region yet, although I might just call it Tasiri and leave it at that.
Next time...the Monster Manual!
