Map-a-Week: The Secret Graveyard

That's right, a bonus post! This one is The Secret Graveyard. It's a small farming village with a graveyard tucked away in the trees. Cute, and it does have some interesting possibilities. And this is a very small village, not even a hamlet. It has eight buildings, some fields, a graveyard, and an open space around the village. Oh, and a road going through and into the forest on either side. In fact, the forest surrounds the entire village on all sides, including the farming fields. So, this is an isolated place. Some... very... interesting... possibilities...

Alright, so this isn't going to be an ordinary village. No, this is a village hidden away for quite a long time now, and it is a village that serves a specific purpose: It is protecting that graveyard. Or guarding it; the terminology is vague. Either way, this is a village of necromancers. They might be evil, using the graveyard for some nefarious purpose, or maybe even good necromancers who are holding something in check. But which it is isn't obvious at first glance. The villagers are able to grow their own food, although they use zombies as field hands (saves on labor costs and reduces the amount of food needed).

1. This gate blocks the road, but it's not secured; the main source of protection for the village its is isolation. The gate can easily be circumvented.

2. Farmhouse.

3. Farmhouse.

4. Farmhouse. I know, it's a subtle pattern.

5. Farmhouse.

6. Farmhouse that is in fact a disguised wizard's home. In fact, all the farmhouses are just a front; the real action happens underground in a secret complex beneath the village.

7-9. Farmhouses.

10. Fields. These fields grow a few staple crops, and the villagers supplement their food by foraging in the forest. They are gatherers, not hunters.

11. The graveyard. This will get its own separate post at some point.

12. The grassland. There are some cows and goats that graze in this field, although they have enough sense to stay away from the pathway to the graveyard.

Yeah, there are some interesting possibilities here that I will have to go into later on. But for now, this is our Map-a-Week. Next up...more monsters.
